Layer Visibility
At the moment, the VBE project preserves the layers of the original ArchiCAD model. You can control the visibility of the model layers in the Layers dialog.
Note that layers are not available in global illumination mode.
There are several cases when an architect needs to communicate with people who are not architects or not even experienced computer users. In these cases, you might not want the individual layer names to be visible in the VBE file sent to the client. A clean, simple interface may be best for the recipient.
Workaround:
- In ArchiCAD, save any changes to your file and then view the desired model elements in the 3D window. Select all elements with the CTRL+a (CMD+a) command (or from the Edit menu).
Edit Selection Set (The Edit Selection Set command from Edit > Element Settings opens a dialog box which makes it possible to edit specific attributes (layers and pencolors) for a collection of dissimilar element types simultaneously without affecting any other settings of these elements.)
- Move everything to the ArchiCAD layer or perhaps you might consolidate into two layers, one with the name Furniture for example so you can turn off the furniture while navigating in VBE.
- Export to VBE
Be sure to NOT to save your project with these layers changes! Exit ArchiCAD without saving changes to avoid making these layer reassignments permanent!.
