TechTip of the Month for September 2003:

Mark Burginger's tip on using the context menu in PlotMaker!

"(...)
I find it more useful to:

When viewing (Tree by Subsets) Expand the layout (sheet) within Navigator, then all of the Drawings on that sheet are clearly listed, highlight the .PMK or Drawing you want to inspect, change or update, left mouse click and select the ZOOM to Selected. This highlights the drawing and is easier that trying to click on the handles within the layout itself."

This tip is a reminder of a lesser-known feature of Navigator:

  1. If you want to view your layouts without drawing frames and Open the Options Menu, choose Display Options and select Hide from the the Drawing Frames: pull-down menu .

  2. Back in Navigator, choose Tree by Subsets... and expand the contents of the layout you want to work on by clicking on the + sign left to the layout's name.

  3. Right-click on the drawing you want to locate on the layout, and select Zoom to selected from the context menu. (see image below)

  4. PlotMaker will now find and select the drawing for you, and zoom in on it.

This method is particularly useful if you have many drawings (i.e. details) on a sheet and you want to find a particular one; or if you find it easier to select drawings on a layout this way, or simply if you like working with the context menu.

Hint: by exploring the other options available in the context menus in Navigator (either in ArchiCAD or in PlotMaker) you might find other shortcuts that can just make your way of working with ArchiCAD or PlotMaker faster or easier...
