Starting from PlotMaker 3.0, pen plotters are no longer supported as default. However, in case you need to plot using a pen plotter, there are several ways pen plotter support can still be enabled in PlotMaker 3.0. These are the following:
The 'PlotWare' folder from the ArchiCAD 7.0 package may be copied into the ArchiCAD 8 folder under the same 'PlotWare' name.
- Changing system settings.
- Under Windows:
In case PlotMaker is running, save your work and exit the program.
- In the Start menu, click the Run menu item, and then type 'regedit' in the appearing Dialog box.
In the Registry Editor, find the following folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Graphisoft\PlotMaker\PlotMaker 3.0.0 INT R3\Plotter\Digitizer- Right-click on the right half of the right side of the Registry Window, and select New\DWORD Value.
Type the following for its name: "PenPlottersEnabled".
- Double-click this newly created value, and enter '1' in the 'Value data' field, then press ENTER.
Exit the Registry Editor program and restart PlotMaker 3.0.
- On the Mac:
In case you have the Property List Editor program on your computer (which is a developer tool) or other programs that can edit '.plist' files (such as OmniOutliner), find the following file: HD/System Folder/Preferences/com.graphisoft.pm6316INT.plist or similar. The number appearing in the path may be something different.
- Find the Root of the key list.
- Create a new directory with the following name: 'Plotter/Digitizer'.
- Open down its tree structure.
Create a new key in it with the following name: 'PenPlottesEnabled'.
- Set its type to: 'string'.
- Change its value to 'yes'
Save the changes made to the plist file.
If you do not have a plist editor program, drag and drop the file onto the TextEdit application, and paste or write into it the following lines:
<key>Plotter/Digitizer</key>
<dict>
<key>PenPlottersEnabled</key>
<string>yes</string>
</dict>
- Under Windows:
Check to see if in the 'PlotWare' folder besides PlotMaker, there is a file named 'HPGL.GPD'. IF there is, a plotter under the name 'Hewlett-Packard/HP 7475A' will appear in the plotter list in the Plot Setup Dialog of PlotMaker. Select this driver to be used with your pen plotter. You may copy this file from the PlotWare folder of an earlier ArchiCAD version.
Note: In case you choose a pen plotter, there will be numbers appearing in the Colors fields in the Pens & Colors Dialog.
