• Network license usage of different ArchiCAD versions

The Network License usage of different versions of ArchiCAD started on the same machine is as follows: The first copy of each version of ArchiCAD 6.5 or ArchiCAD 7.0 will use up one license. This comprises the first version group from a network protection viewpoint. Also, the first copy of each version of ArchiCAD 8 or ArchiCAD 8.1 will use up one license. That is the second version group. Additional copies from the same version groups above will not use up any more licenses. So the number of licenses used up by one machine is either one or two.

For example, one starts ArchiCAD 8.1 on his machine using network license. It will use up one license. When he starts another copy of ArchiCAD 8.1 on this same machine, no more licenses will be used up. When he starts a copy of ArchiCAD 8, no more licenses will be used up. But in case he start a copy of ArchiCAD 7.0, it will use up an additional license, as it is a version of the program different from the version group already started (AC 8 and AC 8.1). If he then starts another copy of ArchiCAD 7.0, it will not use up any more licenses. Now, if he starts a copy of ArchiCAD 6.5 that uses the WIBU hardware protection method (its most important files are found in the Support folder of the ArchiCAD installation CD), no more licenses will be used up.

So, in an unusual example (unless the person is a Graphisoft Tech Support Engineer), let us say one user is running on his machine at the same time two copies of ArchiCAD 8.1, one copy of ArchiCAD 8, two copies of ArchiCAD 7.0 and one copy of ArchiCAD 6.5. In this case he will use up 2 network licenses, as there are copies belonging to two different version groups of ArchiCAD running at the same time on his machine.
