When a Detail is created from the FloorPlan, the section of all construction elements cut by the cutting plane of the Detail is converted into Lines/Fills.
When you dimension in a Detail, the Dimensioning is actually 'associative' with lines/fills etc., not with construction elements like Walls, Slabs etc. This is different from associativity in a SectionElevationWindow, as there are real construction elements Dimensions are associated with.
When you regenerate the Detail from its Source, all previously generated lines/fills are deleted and are newly generated. Of course, any Associative Dimensioning connected to those lines/fills are also deleted unless they are changed into static Dimensioning.
Technically, it is extremely difficult to maintain associativity in this special case. For example, there is a Detail of a Window. The Window's width is 1 meters on the Floor Plan and is drawn with PEN 10. The Dimension in the Detail will be associated to the end of a line with PEN 10 (the line generated from it in the Detail). Later the width of the Window and its pen is changed on the Floor Plan. Now the Dimension in the Detail 'should know' that it should be associated to a line, which has a different length and a different pen.
So if you want to do Dimensions in a Detail Window, do them as a last step, when the geometry of your Detail is very close to complete, and set those Dimensions to be static so they will not be lost when the Detail is regenerated later on.
