In the Special Menu of ArchiCAD 8 (you can make the Special menu appear by holding down the CTRL and ALT keys while ArchiCAD is starting up - CMD+OPT keys on Mac), there is a menu item called 'Update Library Parts'. When you select this item, ArchiCAD will go through all loaded libraries and update all loaded Library Objects so their version will be that of ArchiCAD 8. Of course after such an operation, these Library Objects will not be able to be used with older ArchiCAD versions anymore.
After you do this, you will usually get a Report about the conversion process. It may be quite long and will contain lines like this:

From this you can think there were errors during the conversion. However, this is not the case and you can safely ignore these messages because the conversion process was done successfully.
Note: Features of the Special menu are not supported!
