Issue
The Solid Operation 'Subtract with Upward/Downward Extrusion option will not succeed when the thickness of the Operator Element is zero. In this case the Operator is a surface it has "no mass" to subtract.
Solution
An element, which might be considered a volume can appear to this function as a surface if one its parameters, is zero (e.g. Wall/Column/Beam/Slab with zero height/thickness and Roof with zero thickness). In cases like this the best workaround to use this tool is to set a miniscule thickness/height (0.00001 meters for example). Visually the result will be the same as if the thickness had been zero.
In case of Mesh surfaces, you can use the Create Roofs from Mesh Add-On to convert Roofs with the above very small thickness and subtract that from the Target body.
