Issue
There are certain driver-related problems that can occur on Windows both in ArchiCAD and PlotMaker, when printing transparent bitmaps. In case of certain printers, the printer may not print the transparent bitmap at all or it will print it as non-transparent.
Solution
One thing helps in some cases. Do the following:
- Start the Registry Editor of Windows (Start menu\Run..., then type 'regedit' in the appearing Dialog and click OK).
Find the following folder in it:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD\ArchiCAD 8.0.0 INT R3\Driver Error PatchDouble-click on the following entry: 'Bad TransparentBlt on Printer'
- Type '1' for its value and click the OK button.
- Exit the Registry Editor.
Note: You may have a different folder name for 'ArchiCAD 8.0.0 INT R3' depending on the version number and language of your ArchiCAD copy.
This problem can also occur in the case of the Amyuni PDF Converter, similarly caused by driver error. Another thing that can be done is to change the printing resolution (e.g. try 600 dpi instead of 300 dpi), or to stretch the bitmap a little bit so its width and height are not the same as its original width and height. In such cases, ArchiCAD will process these bitmap for printing using different code portions and it can result in correctly output transparent bitmaps.
