Issue
After a Merge operation in ArchiCAD 8.1, a phantom Camera Path gets created. 'Phantom' means that it seems that it is there, it is listed in the Camera Dialog, but cameras created as part of this Path will disappear and the path curve will not be drawn on the Floor Plan.
Cause
The problem arose because of a change in ArchiCAD 8.1. In earlier ArchiCAD versions, the Project always had to contain at least one Camera Path (even if empty). From ArchiCAD 8.1 on, this is not the case; after a New & Reset, no Camera Path is created as default. The problem comes after a Project file created with an earlier ArchiCAD version and containing an empty Camera Path (there are no placed cameras in the Project - after a New & Reset in ArchiCAD 8 and earlier, this is the case) is merged into the ArchiCAD 8.1 Project file containing no Camera Paths at all.
It can get worse as after a Save or Open operation, cameras appearing to be belonging to this Camera Path will disappear.
Solution
As a 'side-effect' of the deletion of these cameras, the problem is eliminated. Cameras disappear also when the user switches to another camera type in the Camera Dialog.
Workarounds:
- Create a New Path before merging anything or
- Change the Camera type in the Camera Dialog
The problem will be fixed in the next maintenance release of ArchiCAD 8.1.
