Send / Receive Errors
General troubleshooting steps for any case, when you have a Send/receive problem that others working on the same file don't:
- Always save a PLN first, to avoid data loss.
- Send changes (if possible). If you have a problem during Send and receive, try just sending, then just receiving changes, in two separate runs.
- Use the "Reload project from Server" command from the Teamwork/Project menu. This will overwrite your "local copy" with a fresh copy from the server.
If above does not work, then:
- Use the "Leave Teamwork Project" command from the Teamwork/Project menu. This will completely delete your local cached copy of the project.
- Re-join project
If none of these help, or you suspect that the issue is somehow related to Libraries, you can use the Teamwork/Project/"Local Data Manager" command (ArchiCAD 14 only) do delete the local copies of libraries. They will be automatically downloaded again at the next receive changes.
If none of these help:
- get everybody send their changes,
- then save out a PLN, and re-share the PLN as a new Teamwork project.
But before you do that, please create a "Support Package" using the Help menu/"Create Support Package" command, and get in touch with your local tech support. Give Graphisoft a chance to fix the problem.
Connection errors: BIM server is running, but client is unable to connect
These are the things you need to check if the BIM server is running, but you still can not connect to it. The symptoms could either be a "cannot connect to server" or sometimes an "invalid username or password" error message:
- Check firewalls - Are the necessary ports open? (6005, 14001, 14002, 14004 for ArchiCAD 14 and 6005, 5988, 9991, 61616 for ArchiCAD 13)
Does the BIM server has a reliable IP address? It should be one static IP address. (emphasis on 'one and static)
- Does your BIM server has a wired and a wireless connection also? Make sure you turn off the wireless.
- Do you have a Domain name server (DNS) in your network? You should. Do not rely on Bonjour or peer-to-peer network.
Is your DNS set up properly? use nslookup to verify that the name translates to the correct IP address
- What is the "Custom name" of your BIM server? We recommend leaving it the default (that is, the Computer's name) Don't use a custom name with dots in it e.g. (bimserver.company.com). That's how a domain name should look like, but that's not a good custom name.
What is the "Computer's name" of your BIM Server? It should be something like bimserver.company.com, generated by the DNS server. It should not have the computername.local format
- Is the "Project Folder" and "Library Folder" located on a local drive? The BIM server should be able to access these locations without using the network.
- Check if the BIM server and the client is on the same build number
Find and delete these files from the client computer: Connections.xml and "TeamworkInfo.xml or "TeamworkInfo_v2.xml Location of these files are:

Windows 7
Connections.xml
